Brainstorming
David’s clients value his unique ability to convey complex business ideas in a striking visual medium. He is increasingly in demand for corporate brainstorming workshops.
Recently he has been involved in several in-person events including the following projects:
British Aerospace: David appeared live on-stage before 300 managers, taking suggestions from the floor about necessary management qualities. He created an instant cartoon figure to illustrate the suggestions, which was then copied and distributed to all delegates.
HSBC & General Motors: At workshops dealing with issues of cross-cultural dilemmas within multinational organisations, David listened to groups while they discussed methods of reconciling these dilemmas. His role was to put these ideas into visual form, using humorous illustrations to convey the groups' conclusions in presentations to their colleagues.
GM Foods, Disability & Parliamentary Website Research Groups: David sat in on focus groups as they discussed their concerns and preconceptions about these issues. He then drew cartoons to illustrate points of view expressed, and in some cases to counterpoint or challenge them. In the case of the Parliamentary Website, David illustrated visions of both a worst-case and best-case scenario. In all these groups, the respondents had the opportunity to see and comment on David's ideas and artwork as the session proceeded.
Department of Health and The National Archives: For these clients, David’s was asked to draw cartoons that encapsulated delegates’ views of their Institutions’ identities. These took the form of “if your Organisation was an animal, what sort of animal would it be?” The focus that this exercise provided brought about a very lively debate and the pictures were subsequently distributed throughout the organisations.
